Pictures of Some of Our Events - New Ones!!
July 24, 2023, marked the 45th birthday of Mendota Area Senior Services! A celebration open house was held on July 26th from 1 -3 PM. Attendees enjoyed cupcakes and lemonade and looking through old scrap books to reminisce about the past years of MASS.
Steve Dinges, a current board member of MASS, was at the celebration. It was his mother Lois Dinges and sister Clarine Spetzler (Dinges) who started MASS 45 years ago. He recalled the first vehicle MASS used for transportation services, an old red Dodge station wagon that needed maintenance quite often. My, how MASS has grown! Currently there are eleven vehicles in the fleet; two 12-passenger vans, 7 minivans, and two cars used by volunteer drivers. Transportation services now include all of LaSalle County and other medical trips outside of the county.
Mendota Area Senior Services also offers many other services including Information & Assistance, Outreach, Senior Center Activities, Caregiver Services, Social Isolation Activities, Congregate Meal Site, and a Lending Closet. A special thank you is sent to 4M Graphix for donating the design and completed logo for our birthday bear, and to Julie Szigeti for putting him all together. MASS staff are accepting suggestions for a name for him and would love your input!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MASS!
